It's clear that it needs to thaw. Battery is now in my dining room warming up and on the trickle charger. Once again, whoever designed the engine bay on this thing is actually the worst. Somehow worse than working in -37.

The air density has  to be ridiculous where you’re at.

Try a Chrysler Sebring. Step 1: Jack up car

How d o the plastic bits react in those temps? I’m picturing that yellow hood prop holder shattering into a million pieces if you slightly grazed it.

That trickle charger may or may not be able to charge a drained battery, although warming it up will help.

You seem to be pretty disillusioned with the FiST as of late, care to share some of your gripes regarding the car? For example the engine bay being shitty to work in, that would bother me too.

I’m car shopping and looking for excuses not to stretch my budget and get a high mileage  one of these so any of your ownership thoughts would be appreciated

If your FiST is making you this upset, I’d gladly take the engine and trans off your hands. The van can use some boosted stick power.

Yep, removing the tire and fender liner was a great design, Chrysler.

Only a few things shattered.

In my case:

- Engine bay is tight, even though the battery is right on top. Preformed cables suck.

- Build quality is ehhhh. If you’re buying one, check all your window switches to make sure they actually work.

- Thoroughly look over it to make sure it hasn't been pre-thrashed.

It's charging now, which is good.

Build quality is my main concern, I’ve heard it’s not stellar on normal fiestas and the stiffness of the ST just compounds those issues.

Also the steering feedback in the normal fiesta I drove was garbage, but I have yet to have seat time in an ST. I don’t really care about the power either, just the chassis tuning.

Yeah, it's harsh, especially on rough roads. But the steering and shifter are amazing.

it was to “reduce heat conducted to the battery from the engine compartment to extend the life of the battery”

AKA

“we designed this car and we forgot to leave room for a goddamn battery!!!”
